Amy J. Brown, CMD®
Vice President, Property Management
Ms. Brown joined DPI as Vice President Property Management in December 2020 and directs the property management department. Ms. Brown has worked in the shopping center industry for 30 years in both field and corporate positions for property management and marketing. She has extensive experience in construction, renovations, tenant relations, vendor management, budgeting, strategic marketing, event management and public relations.
Prior to DPI, Ms. Brown held corporate positions as Regional Property Manager at NewMark Merrill Companies in Woodland Hills, CA, Director Retail Marketing at Forest City Enterprises in Cleveland, OH and Director, Corporate Marketing at Crown American in Johnstown, PA. Ms. Brown opened The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos in Corona, CA in 2006 and has experience managing lifestyle centers, strip centers/big box centers, enclosed malls, parking garages/surface lots and unique properties such as 8000 Sunset in West Hollywood and The Dome Entertainment Center in Hollywood.
Ms. Brown has her CA real estate salesman license and holds the ICSC Certified Shopping Center Marketing (CMD) designation. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Brown has volunteered for numerous non-profit organizations and has worked with many different organizations to assist them with raising money during her career.
Sue Knapp, CPM®, RPA®
Regional Property Manager
Ms. Knapp joined DPI in April, 2007 and is responsible for all aspects of property management for DPI’s Northern California properties including overseeing tenant and capital improvements, implementing lease renewals and managing general maintenance.
Prior to joining DPI, Ms. Knapp was the General Manager for over one million square feet of retail space for Pan Pacific Retail Properties and Western Properties Trust, both self-administered and self-managed REITs with properties in California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Since 1983, Ms. Knapp has successfully managed and leased retail centers, office and light industrial parks throughout Northern California.
Ms. Knapp holds a B.A. in English from Southern Illinois University, as well as both the Certified Property Management (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute. She is also a licensed California Real Estate Salesperson.
Marian K. Jackson, CPM®
Senior Property Manager
Ms. Jackson joined the team of DPI Retail at the end of August 2020. She is responsible for all aspects of property management for five of DPI’s Northern and Southern California properties, including managing operations to achieve optimum performance with contracted third-party vendors, fostering and maintaining positive tenant relations, resolving tenant issues, negotiating leases, preparing annual operating and capital budgets, annual CAM reconciliations and financial reporting.
Prior to joining DPI, Ms. Jackson has held positions of Executive/Senior Property Manager, brings over 15+ years of commercial real estate experience managing complex, diverse urban and suburban real estate retail shopping centers and office building portfolios, (~1.5MIL sf), throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, valued between $5M to $50M, on behalf of institutional real estate investment companies, REITS, bank trust departments, non-profit corporations and court-appointed receivers.
Ms. Jackson holds a B.S. Degree from St. Louis University, as well as, the distinguished Certified Property Manager CPM® designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). She has recently reactivated her membership with the IREM Greater Los Angeles Chapter No. 6. Ms. Jackson is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.
Real Estate Analyst
Mr. Mellody has 9 years of Real Estate experience specializing in Asset Management, Acquisitions, and Corporate Finance. Prior to joining DPI Retail, Mellody worked as a part of an acquisition team sourcing new investment opportunities in Retail, Office, Multi-Family, Industrial, and Residential. At Craig Realty Group, Mr. Mellody supported Development and Construction teams with construction management, financial planning, and analysis and played a key role with the development of Outlets of San Clemente, a $300 million outlet shopping center. At SmartStop Asset Management, Mr. Mellody assisted with the sourcing, underwriting, and due diligence for $1 billion of new acquisitions. And at Dornin Group, Mr. Mellody assisted with acquisitions, leasing, construction, and operations.
Mr. Mellody graduated from California State University Fullerton Mihaylo College of Business and Economics with a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship. He is still active with the Center for Entrepreneurship and the Small Business Institute mentoring and coaching students through business consulting. Mr. Mellody is active with CSU Fullerton’s Real Estate & Land Use Institute (RELUI) where he speaks to students on various real estate trends. In his free time, he likes to snowboard, free dive, and scuba dive..
